26-BES-DL  Streamline Art Deco Large Sconce

When we say “large” we mean LARGE.  Sometimes it is hard to picture a loosely interpreted term like that...so we asked one of our lamp technicians to please give us some assistance.  Ben is a bit over 6 ft in height.

Our fantastic “Streamline sconce” is one of the more unique Art Deco entries we have made thus far.  Made from Aluminum and zinc materials, it is a cooperation of many separate operations.  We have castings and spinnings and a few sheet metal fabrication operations as well.  All come together to form this lovely sconce.  The original sample came to us from Chicago and that antique had seen some pretty rough times.  We are happy to preserve this design and recreate its uniqueness.

It's large size is:

Overall height, end of finial to end of finial:  42".

Width:  12", which houses a 10" diameter acrylic shade.

Projects from the wall 14 1/2".

It is wired for two LED tubes (2 ft) for long life and less maintenance.  The LED tubes ARE included in the price of this light as we want to make sure you get the best quality that is out there.

Alternatively:  We could build it for twin tube fluorescent bulbs if you prefer or even a series of incandescent, but, we are hopeful that a near zero maintenance situation will appeal to you.

Mounting:  Because this light is a bit heavy, 46 lbs is average, a single electrical box is not going to hold it.  It was originally mounted with four lag bolts and we have continued this application.  We went one step further:  we added decorative caps for the lag bolts so that after the socket set is put away, you can screw on the decorative caps by hand.  We also recommend a bit of Locktite on the cap thread to help prevent tampering and/or theft.  Once applied, it all looks very nice as a finished installation.

Comes complete with LED tubes, acrylic shade and mounting lag bolts/caps.

650-12L-DK1  Marseille Art Deco Chandelier in Antique Brass Finish with Frosted Glass Shades & White Mica

650-12L-DK2  Marseille Art Deco Chandelier in Antique Brass Finish with Amber Glass Shades & Amber Mica (shown)

A serious two years of design have gone into creating one of the greatest deco chandeliers on the market today.  (see a fraction of the design process picture for interest).  As an addition to our French Marseille Art Deco Series this fine chandelier uses the same Marseille Series shade but is a much larger and a most impressive offering.  Its stock number is 650-12L and is available in a darkened brass finish (Illus); or polished brass; and has even been cast in white metal (650-12L-ZN) for Deco period appeal.

This chandelier has a diameter of 42" and a standard 33 1/2" in height.  This height could be changed to longer or shorter to suit various installations.  Be sure of your mounting...it does weigh in at approximately 100 lbs.  This large 12 light chandelier can be used with either incandescent bulbs or our energy saving LED light bulbs stock number 60-WW-E26.  Each of the 12 sockets is capable of a 100 watts or greater wattage bulb, so significant lighting results can be achieved.  To liven up the body of the chandelier, small windows were created in the bottom of the light to receive Mica inserts.  These Mica inserts can be amber mica or white mica depending on your choice.  We assumed that folks who like the amber shades would also like the amber mica inserts....and those folks who wished frosted shades would prefer white mica,  but when we tried frosted shades with amber mica inserts, that was quite nice too.  The choice is totally yours.  This is the only Art Deco slip shade chandelier of this size and scale on the market today.  It has been two years in development and we are very pleased with the result.  We hope you will also find it pleasing.

650-18L-ZN2  Marseille Art Deco Chandelier in White Metal with Amber Glass Shades & Amber Mica

Four years of serious design have gone into creating one of the greatest deco chandeliers on the market today.  (see a fraction of the design process picture for interest).  As a further addition to our Marseille Art Deco Series this fine 18 light chandelier uses the same Marseille Series shade but is a larger than the 650-12L and a bit most impressive.

Two years ago we introduced 650-12L which is our twelve light chandelier .  Now we make it’s bigger

brother, the 650-18L, an 18 light chandelier on two tiers.

(we shouldn’t even discuss the giant brother 650-36L, half-way thru the proto-type stages,  which will be two tiers with 36 shades and have an approximate diameter of 66”...or monster brother 650-42L ...also in the proto-type stage,  which will have three tiers with 42 shades and also have 66” diameter.  But if one of these giants appeals,  it would be nice to hear from you to speed the process.  You know the old saying about a squeaky wheel.......)

This 650-18L chandelier has a diameter of 42" and a standard 45" in height.  This height could be changed to longer or shorter to suit various installations.  Be sure of your mounting...it does weigh in at approximately 130 lbs.  This large 18 light chandelier can be used with either incandescent bulbs or energy saving LED light bulbs.  Each of the 18 sockets is capable of a 100 watts or greater wattage bulb, so significant lighting results can be achieved.

We believe that this is the only Art Deco slip shade chandelier series of this size and scale on the market today.  It has been four years in development and we are very pleased with the continuing results and look forward to our even bigger versions.

Lincoln Mnf of Detroit, Circa 1934, was one of the largest Art Deco slip shade makers in the US.  They had a majority contract for a few years with Sears and were pictured in Sears' Hi-Glo Lighting catalogs.

One major group that they made for Sears was The Glen Falls Group.  We have recreated this group since it was an important concession to the new building trends of lower 8 foot ceilings.  We also have an original catalog picture of the "Glen Falls" suite to show the way it was presented in the 1930's.

It comes with a rotary off/on switch just like the originals.

This sconce is cast from white metal and then has its finish hand-applied.  It is also made as a solid brass LED boat light in another part of our site.

This sconce takes normal incandescent bulbs, but it can also take our special LED bulb 35C-E26, which spreads light evenly and draws a mere 1.6 watts.

623-ES  Americana Art Deco Sconce

Very impressive, recreated, cast brass sconce with a hi/lo antique finish.

The clear glass tubes are staggered to repeat the Art Deco motif.

Originally:  Circa 1920-30.

This is such a unique Art Deco Sconce...so out of the ordinary...and so into total design motif.

It mounts with one center screw to any UL approved electrical box (we supply the crossbar).

The socket is candleabra type, and we have used our candelabra LED bulb 35C-E12 with great affect.  There is a mirror finish backplate behind the bulb to reflect as much light as possible so even our small LED bulb has a pleasing result.

All mounting hardware will be supplied with this sconce.  This sconce does come supplied with a rotary switch.  The great Art Deco knob can be seen on the backplate.

This sconce does make a statement all by itself.  Not much more to say about this sconce other than to give you the measurements.

Measurements:  Overall height is 12”.  The backplate has a width of 4 3/8”.  It projects into a room a mere 3 1/4”.

13-PAM-DK  Pair of Antique Brass Finish Sconce Fixtures with Amber Line Pattern Antique Vianne Art Deco Slip Shades

13-PAM-NP  Pair of Nickel Plated Sconce Fixtures with Amber Line Pattern Antique Vianne Slip Shades

One of the finest glass companies in the world was the Vianne Glass Company of France, founded in 1928.  They were among the biggest glass companies in France.  Located near Bordeaux in southwest France, Vianne was the last surviving glass maker in France to produce hand blown glass.  All of the companies that bought glass from Vianne proudly announced they used their glass.  At the end of December 2005, this respected company closed its doors.

Many lighting companies bought up the remaining stock of Vianne glass shades, all advertising that when they’re gone, there will be no more.  Vianne made many styles of glass shades, but the early Art Deco slip shades are highly rare and valued.  All slip shades are probably well over 60 years old, since the Art Deco era ended with World War II.

Here is a delightful combination of old and recreation.  While we have been slowly accumulating old French shades by Vianne for some time, the frames to hold them are darn hard to find.  We decided to solve this problem by duplicating an original frame and adding a few touches to make it UL compliant.  French manufacturers did not really do that.

Sconces are sold in pairs, and are priced as a pair.  In the "quantity" to order, "one" equals one pair.  Each sconce is wired with a porcelain candelabrum socket by Leviton and is rated for 100 watts or more.  It is possible to wire these with a socket that would take an LED bulb if so desired.  No switch is available on this French design.

Overall Measurements (with shade):  12 1/2" height x 6" width.  Projects from the wall 4 1/2".

Frame Measurements:  9 1/2" height x 4 3/4" width.

Backplate of the Frame Measurements:  6 1/4" high x 4 11/16" wide.  The 3/8" diameter mounting hole is centrally located at 3 13/16" from the bottom of the backplate.

Height:  12 1/2"

Width:  6"

Projects 4 1/2".

Art Deco Manhattan Series Sconce (Photo is black & white)

We found a series of fantastic Art Deco lights that came from the depression era of America..Circa 1936. We have catalog references for them showing some very unique designs and so we re-created the Manhattan Line consisting of two chandeliers and this fine sconce.

Made from zinc by the Lost Wax casting method (also used for jewelry and bronze artwork). This was the exact same material as the Art Deco originals were cast. An on/off switch is mounted on the base.

We also have sourced unique Art Deco scalloped glass in both frosted finish and amber tint. Due to the narrowness of the projection, safety dictated a candelabrum socket capable of a 60 watt candleabrum bulb. It is believed that this is sufficient for accent and small fill-in area lighting.

This sconce comes complete with your choice of either frosted glass panels (as shown) or amber tinted glass panels

202-ES  Art Deco Sunset Palm Tree Wall Sconce

Isn’t this fun?  We designed this fixture for a restaurant in Florida.  It comes from an actual antique sconce, and changes were made to allow it to be UL approved.  Just kinda neat.

Cast from various white metals, it approximates a sunrise (or sunset) through a palm tree.  The painting is hand done, so each sconce will vary a tiny bit with its hand-painted nature, but close enough to match for sure.  The sun is a mica panel so the “sun” shines through it with a very nice effect.  While the socket is rated for wattages higher than 100, we found that a smaller bulb gives a great ambiance.

This sconce measures 9" tall by 7" wide.  It projects into the room from the wall at only 3 1/2".

As the sconce sits, it does not have a switch.  A rotary old fashioned style switch can be added for a small additional cost.

Priced by each.

See the Moonlight version of this sconce, 202-ES-ZN for a nighttime theme.

9" tall by 7" wide, and protrudes a mere 3 1/2”.

There were stylized images of human figures and animals throughout the Art Deco era, beginning with the Paris expo (Exposition des Arts Decoratifs) in 1925.  We know that this expo is where Art Deco got its name, and it was the birthplace of many of the design elements during this period.

Here we present one of the most Art Deco sconces ever made and now redesigned by us, for our Art Deco enthusiasts.  It’s just so very iconic.  We had this sconce in mind when we designed the VERY Art Deco shade 0319G and 0319AMG shown below.  Together, they make a very loud statement of your Art Deco taste and preference of design.

Cast as the original in white metal, we can supply this sconce in two normal 1930's finishes:  the high low finish with dark background, or the pewter one-tone finish, often called a matte finish.

Measurements:

Sconce Without Shade:  10 1/2” from the top to the bottom of the fitter.  The maximum width (which is the backplate) is 4 1/2”.

With our 0319G or 0319AMG shades, it will project into the room 4 1/2”.  If you use your own shade, this will vary a bit.  Overall height when using our 0319G or 0319AMG shades is 16”.

This sconce can easily accomodate a 100 watt bulb.  That second stylized knob, on the backplate, is a switch knob.
